GFCA Special Committee on Schools - Committee Meeting

In August, the GFCA Executive Board established a Special Committee on Schools Co-chair by board member Gordon Harris and GFCA member Fadi Shadid.  This event will be the committee’s first meeting. The Special Committee is seeking volunteers to be active participants in executing the mission established by the GFCA Board.

The draft agenda includes reviewing current priorities and approaches to best monitor Fairfax County plans and policies along with how to best inform and involve the Great Falls Community of potential changes.  Committee members will highlight any new insights into the draft revision of the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) policy 8130 which governs school boundary changes. The draft was first introduced at the July 22 a work session of the FCPS school board. This draft revise parts of the policy including the type and priority of considerations that guides school boundary decisions which is intended adopt One-Fairfax policy considerations.
