"Updated" Boundary Changes for the Langley High School Pyramid October 10, 2025: Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and its contractor, Thru Consulting, will be “updating”/refining the previously presented three boundary change scenarios and may include a new boundary change scenario #4. The update will be in the Boundary Explorer tool. You can type in your address, toggle among the scenarios, and see if there are any changes for your students. October 13, 2025, 8PM: The Special Committee on Schools will host a meeting to review the FCPS updates to the Boundary Change Scenarios for the Langley Community HS pyramid. If you want to participate in the review or just listen, email Schools@gfca.org. We will send out a link on October 13. We have invited some of the Superintendent’s Boundary Review Advisory Committee (BRAC) members to participate. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, 6:30-8:00, at Langley High School – This is the last FCPS planned opportunity for Langley HS pyramid families to provide direct inputs to FCPS. Here are the links to register, in person or virtual. After these community meetings, there are two planned Superintendent’s BRAC meetings in November. Note, the BRAC meetings are not open to the public.
Subsequently, Superintendent Dr. Reid makes recommended Boundary changes to the School Board in December or January. Although the School Board will host a public hearing in the January or February 2026 timeframe, it is highly unlikely that the School Board will alter the proposed boundary changes based on parent’s requests at those meetings. Additional background: Boundary Change Scenario #1 minimized island schools. Scenario #2 attempted to minimize split feeder schools. Scenario #3 is a reasoned combination of #1 and #2 to reduce overcrowding. These boundary change scenarios did not move students out of the LHS pyramid. Make your families priorities know to the FCPS and the School Board on October 15. Interactive FCPS School Boundary Community Engagement Meeting: May 19 6:30PM at Herndon HS
Where are your kids going to School? You have less than two weeks to let Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) know what is important to your family as they plan to unveil “draft” school boundary change options on May 5, 2025, to the Boundary Review Advisory Committee (BRAC). We have not seen these options, but they are coming soon. At the last BRAC meeting, April 11, in order to fix the Spring Hill Elementary School – McLean High School “attendance island,” a presented option is realigning some students to attend Langley HS. Langley HS attendance would grow to by 201 students or 102% of its capacity. At the BRAC meeting on April 25, they presented options to fix “split feeder” schools. This could also lead to more students realigned to Langley HS. In turn, this could put pressure to move students living in western Great Falls to Herndon HS. FCPS has an on-line portal where you can submit questions, comments, concerns, etc. You have an option to submit comments with your contact information or anonymously. Tell them what is important to your family. For example, your student(s) would rather participate in a challenging academic environment at a nationally ranked High School even if it is slightly crowded or has a long bus commute. Link to submit comments to FCPS Boundary Review Portal. You can submit more than one question or comment. Make your voice heard!
